An integral part of our curriculum, culture and community
From as early as ELC through to Year 12, our Visual Arts curriculum offers a wide range of disciplines. The quality and depth of work visible in our annual Junior and Secondary School art exhibitions can be attributed to our specialist teachers, who nurture passion and inspire each student to embrace creative experimentation and express their individuality. There are many opportunities for students to develop and present their visual arts skills – from annual exhibitions and artist-in-residence programs to excursions and workshops with industry professionals.

Junior School
Our Junior Schools at Wheelers Hill and Malvern campuses have light-filled visual arts spaces. Students explore the basic elements of art in Early Learning, with a specialist art teacher introduced from Prep onwards. At times, artists-in-residence work with learners to provide unique and diverse perspectives. Children are encouraged to experiment with art mediums and processes to express their ideas and feelings.

Middle School (Years 7–9)
During their time in Middle School, students undertake compulsory studies in both Visual and Performing Arts, developing their visual arts skills through creating and presenting arts in ways that engage and convey feelings, experiences and ideas. Students explore the role of art and design in both historical and contemporary contexts. They look at both product and digital design, with a focus on sustainability.

Senior School (Years 10–12)
Caulfield Grammar School offers programs that specialise in Art, Photography, Media and Visual Communication Design. In addition to our curriculum offering, we have a student-led Visual Arts committee in Senior School which organises and runs activities that enhance our community. There are also many co-curricular opportunities such as lunch-time art clubs, excursions and exhibitions like the much-anticipated annual VCE Art & Design Graduate Exhibition.
