Year 10 Odyssey Program

The Year 10 Odyssey Program at Caulfield Grammar School offers an extraordinary opportunity for students to step beyond the classroom and immerse themselves in Australia’s wild and beautiful landscapes. As the School’s premier adventure program, Odyssey challenges students physically, mentally and emotionally, fostering personal growth, a sense of community and environmental stewardship. Across various regions – from the Whitsundays to Central Australia – students experience activities that test their resilience, encourage collaboration, and ignite their appreciation for nature.

Odyssey’s activities are tailored to different locations across Australia, each providing a unique environment and set of challenges. The program includes venues in East Coast Tasmania, Margaret River, the Whitsundays, the Bogong High Plains, the Grampians/Gariwerd, Lake Eildon, the Mitchell River and the Snowy River region. Each location offers its own natural splendour and an adventurous activity such as bushwalking, sea kayaking, cross-country skiing, rock climbing, and even rafting. Over six to nine days, students navigate unfamiliar terrain, overcome physical and mental challenges, and deepen their understanding of themselves and their peers.

Three core learning outcomes lie at the heart of the Odyssey Program, shaping each student’s journey through these adventures: Accepting Challenge, Community Living, and Environmental Appreciation. Each venue and activity is designed to embed these values and lessons.

At journey’s end, students return with stories of resilience, newfound friendships, and a broadened view of the world. The Odyssey Program not only prepares Year 10 students for future challenges; it also inspires them to lead with empathy, respect and curiosity. It is a pivotal experience that echoes far beyond their time at Caulfield Grammar, leaving a lasting impact on each individual who participates.
