The 2025 House Music Festival at Malvern Campus was an unforgettable celebration of connection, confidence and community.
Every student from Prep to Year 6 took to the stage in a joyful showcase of singing, movement and teamwork under the theme Timeless Tunes: A Musical Journey Through the Decades.
Each House performed two songs—a set song and a chosen piece from a specific decade. The set song ‘For Good’ from Wicked was selected as a timeless anthem of gratitude and friendship. Marsden House transported the audience to the 60s with ‘Ain’t No Mountain High Enough’, Brown House brought vibrant 70s energy with ‘Don’t Stop’ by Fleetwood Mac, Warriner House delivered a fierce 80s tribute with ‘Eye of the Tiger’, and McLean House had everyone moving with the 90s hit ‘Keep On Movin’’.
Each year, House Music is enriched by the inclusion of student instrumentalists who accompany their House performances – bringing an added layer of musicality and giving students the opportunity to perform live alongside their peers. These performances are further supported by our talented staff band, who provide students with an unforgettable live music experience. Our Year 6 student leaders took on vital roles – some developing their public speaking skills when introducing their Houses, while others stepped into the role of conductor, honing their musicianship and leading their House’s performance with skill and confidence.
In the six weeks leading up to the event, students rehearsed in House groups, supported by passionate staff and the dedicated music team. The result was not just polished performances but deepened relationships across year levels, shared learning and a vibrant expression of the joy that music brings to our community.
Our adjudicator, Will McMahon of KISS FM’s ‘Will & Woody’, brought his expertise in music, media and performance to the judging panel, supported by our Caulfield Campus Music Captains. The performances were evaluated on musicality, in-tune singing, choreography, stage presence and House spirit, all of which were on full display.
A huge congratulations to Alice Starkins from Warriner House, who was awarded the 2025 Conductor’s Award for her outstanding musical leadership, and to Brown House, who were crowned the overall winners of this year’s House Music Festival!
House Music remains a true highlight of the Malvern calendar – an uplifting, all-in celebration that unites students, staff and families through song.
