Turning a mind for sport into a mind for life

At Caulfield Grammar School we believe that sport plays an integral role in the social, emotional and physical development of our students. We are dedicated to creating a sporting culture that focuses on enjoyment, participation and community.

Our Sport program is compulsory for Years 5 to 12 and equips our students with essential life skills to develop and maintain their health and wellbeing, as well as create a lifelong love of sport. Students compete in both the prestigious Associated Public Schools of Victoria (APS) and Associated Grammar Schools of Victoria (AGSV) competitions, as well as a range of sport-specific regional, state and national interschool competitions.

There are also opportunities for students to participate in House sports, sports camps and tours both within Australia and internationally, as well as represent Caulfield Grammar School in a range of other sports including Human Powered Racing, Fencing, Golf, Snow Sports and more.

Interschool Sport

Participation in School Sport is a compulsory part of student life at Caulfield Grammar School from Year 5 through to Year 12. Students compete in both the prestigious Associated Public Schools of Victoria (APS) and Associated Grammar Schools of Victoria (AGSV) competitions.

Junior School Sport

Sport in Junior School is designed to engage students in a range of different recreational and competitive sports to develop physical literacy and key foundational skills such as teamwork, confidence, physical competence, sportspersonship, resilience and leadership.

APS Competition Sport begins in Year 5. All students take part in four terms of Sport involving training and fixtures against other APS schools. Students attend a weekly compulsory training session and compete against other schools on Wednesday during school time. Students participate in a new chosen Sport each term.

Through House Sport, including Swimming, Athletics and Cross Country carnivals, and participation in APS (Years 5–6), students can refine their sporting and life skills with the guidance of expert coaches.

Middle Years Sport (Years 7–9)

Our Middle Years core sports program is largely based around APS Competition Sport. Students select their sports preferences for the three Sport seasons – Summer, Winter and Spring – and are encouraged to try a variety of sports.

While developing technical abilities and game-sense, the opportunity to represent Caulfield Grammar School at regular weekend APS fixtures creates a sense of pride and community. There are also opportunities to participate in a range of regional, state and national interschool competitions, as well as sports camps and tours in Australia and internationally.
