At Caulfield Grammar School we believe that sport plays an integral role in the social, emotional and physical development of our students. We are dedicated to creating a sporting culture that focuses on enjoyment, participation and community. Our Sport program is compulsory for Years 5 to 12 and equips students with essential life skills to develop and maintain health and wellbeing as well as create a lifelong love of sport.
Students compete in both the prestigious Associated Public Schools of Victoria (APS) and Associated Grammar Schools of Victoria (AGSV) competitions, as well as a range of sport-specific regional, state and national interschool competitions.
There are also opportunities for students to participate in House sports, sports camps and tours, both within Australia and internationally, as well as represent Caulfield Grammar School in a range of other sports including Human Powered Racing, Fencing, Golf, Snow Sports and more.
Participation in School Sport is a compulsory part of student life at Caulfield Grammar School from Year 5 through to Year 12. Students compete in both the prestigious Associated Public Schools of Victoria (APS) and Associated Grammar Schools of Victoria (AGSV) competitions.
Junior School Sport engages students in various recreational and competitive activities, developing physical literacy and foundational skills like teamwork, confidence and leadership. House events in Swimming, Athletics and Cross-Country further refine their skills, fostering resilience and sportsmanship. APS competition begins in Year 5, with students participating in four sports terms, including training and competition, guided by expert coaches.
Our Middle Years core sports program centers on APS Competition, allowing students to choose from a variety of sports each season – Summer, Winter and Spring. While building skills and game sense, students also develop pride and community through weekend APS fixtures. Students can join regional, state and national competitions, as well as sports camps and international tours.
Regular physical activity supports academic success and wellbeing, so our Year 10–11 students are committed to participating in a minimum of two APS Sport seasons and Year 12 must participate in one season. Students can also specialise, working with expert coaches, and participating in regional, state and national competitions, plus sports camps and international tours.
The House system is an integral part of the Caulfield Grammar School experience from Prep through to Year 12. Students are encouraged to participate in friendly House Sport events that build a strong spirit of camaraderie and community and provide invaluable opportunities to demonstrate leadership and courage. House Sports include Cross-Country, Athletics and Swimming.
Our Sports Department delivers a comprehensive program for students at all skill levels, from foundational skills to elite pathways. With over 400 expert coaches, we engage students in tailored programs that build early sports skills, encourage active lifestyles, and nurture a lifelong love for sport. Our team ensures every student is supported, regardless of experience or expertise.
* The recreational physical activity program consists of a range of physical activities for senior students (Years 10–12) who have not chosen a competitive season of Sport. The program is conducted during the embedded Tuesday training time and does not involve a Saturday commitment.
